Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday night visited the sites of Shahdara flyover and Nawaz Sharif Interchange Bedian Road Underpass and inspected the pace and quality of work on these projects, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

During the visit, he was told that 84 per cent work on Shahdara flyover and 40 per cent work on Nawaz Sharif interchange had been completed.

The chief minister also inspected the construction of protective walls on the Shahdara flyover.

He shook hands with the labourers working at the project’s site and urged them to work harder.

He, however, expressed his satisfaction over the quality of work on the project.

He directed the concerned officials to divert the traffic coming from Gujranwala towards the Service Road.

CM Naqvi ordered immediate leveling of the Service Road so that traffic could be diverted towards it.

He gave special instructions to Lahore Development Authority (LDA) DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa and contactors in order to ensure that both the projects could be completed on time.

The chief minister, however, directed further expediting work on the underpass.

He expressed the hope that the completion of both these projects would facilitate people’s movement from one place to another, and the issue of traffic congestion would be resolved for good.

Briefing the CM on the progress made on these projects so far, Commissioner Lahore, DG LDA, chief engineer LDA and contractors said that work was underway 24/7 for timely completion of the flyover.

He was told that 300,000 cars would pass through the flyover daily, while 120,000 cars would use the underpass.
