A sub-inspector of motorway police was injured Friday in firing by three unidentified suspects near Chach Interchange of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway in Attock, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sub-inspector Altaf was rushed to Peshawar Hospital for treatment while the Hazro and motorway police teams jointly inspected the crime scene and collected evidence.
According to the motorway police, the police officer was injured while thwarting a robbery attempt.
A team of motorway police officers reached Hazro police station for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused.
“Thorough investigations will be launched into the incident,” said police.
The motorway police sources told 24NewsHD TV channel that unidentified suspects came on the motorway due to lack of safety fence and fled after firing shots at the motorway police sub-inspector.
It merits a mention here that the safety fence along the motorway is damaged from many spots which provides the dacoits an opportunity to come on the road to rob citizens of valuables.
