Polio team attacked in southern Punjab

An anti-polio team came under attack in a small town of southern Punjab on Friday.

Police rushed to the site but the accused fled from the spot. The main accused was named as Salim, who did not approve of the anti-polio campaign before the attack. The Shujabad local police have registered the case and started a hunt for the arrest of attackers.

A team, comprising lady health workers, Ghulam Fizza and Zahida Parveen and area head Imran, was administering polio vaccine to children in Ahli Langrani village when a villager attacked them with an axe. The workers were forced out of the village. Later, police were called and the accused was arrested.
