FIA forms Anti-Torture Unit to prevent custodial torture on HRCP's advice
Notification issues; 15-day remand limit for anti-corruption cases under new rules; All arrests including prominent figures must be publicised within 24 hours

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has established an "Anti-Torture Unit" to prevent custodial torture and deaths during investigations.
The 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday that the FIA formed the unit on the recommendations of the Human Rights Commission.
According to a notification issued on Monday, suspects arrested in anti-corruption cases will be subjected to a maximum of 15 days of physical remand for investigation.
The notification further stated that an additional 5 days may only be granted for further investigation if required in the case.
It was emphasised that authorities must report any case filed against a suspect within 24 hours.
Additionally, the notification mandates that the arrests of public figures and other prominent individuals must be made public.
