The lawyer of the main accused Naveed Bashir in the Wazirabad attack on PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan has claimed that his client was “innocent” and the incident was “planted” by the PTI itself, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mian Dawood said his client Naveed is now “facing no charge”, claiming “Wazirabad incident was planned and has nothing to do with the reality.”
Addressing a news conference in Lahore on Thursday, Mian Dawood said a passer-by was caught and made an accused in the FIR. The self-proclaimed victim party Tehrik-e-Insaf has also said that Naveed is not our accused, he the JIT has investigated in a fraudulent manner, whereas before the FIR was filed a JIT was formed.
He alleged that the JIT did not investigate the matter on merit and they deny accepting its report. The statements of the policemen were also neglected by the JIT in the Wazirabad attack, the lawyer further said.
He claimed that the JIT was changed on the wish of Imran Khan. After Ghulam Mahmood Dogar became convener the JIT took the file and went to Zaman Park, trying to spin the case.
Mian Dawood also said that the video evidence at the spot is not made part of the record, the dead person Moazzam Gondal was killed by the bullet of Imran Khan’s bodyguard, the video of Moazzam’s death was not made make part of the record.
The lawyer of the accused also said that an attempt is being made to throw away the basic facts of the incident, if the JIT investigates properly, Moazzam’s killer will be Imran Khan’s bodyguard. Apart from the accused Naveed, no one fired except the bullet fired from Imran Khan’s container.
After the forensic report of the attack, the situation has been cleared that the JIT has conducted the investigation in a fraudulent manner because the team had already formed before the FIR was filed, he said.
Naveed’s counsel further said that the weapon of the guard from which Moazzam was killed, was not ‘given’ for the forensic, and questioned why the JIT had not made the video, a part of the record, in which firing was done from the container.
He alleged that PTI is misleading people about the Wazirabad attack.
Commenting on the injury to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Mian Dawood said, according to PTI, the former prime minister was hit by eight bullets but in a video, only one mark on his leg is visible.
