The leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has filed an appeal against the decision of the Returning Officer (RO) to reject his nomination papers from constituency NA-122 for the upcoming general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Thursday.

The appeal will be heard tomorrow by the Election Appellate Tribunal headed by Justice Risal Hassan Syed. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the RO of NA-122 are the respondents in the case.

In his appeal, Imran Khan has claimed that the RO rejected his nomination papers on false grounds and in violation of the facts. He has argued that the provisions of Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution, which deal with the eligibility of candidates, are not applicable to him in the Tosha Khana case. He has also contended that the ECP is not a judicial authority and cannot disqualify him on its own.

Moreover, Imran Khan has challenged the objection raised by the RO that his proposer and seconder belonged to different constituencies. He has stated that he submitted all the required documents and proofs along with his nomination papers, but the RO ignored them and rejected his papers without any valid reason. He has requested the tribunal to set aside the decision of the RO and allow him to contest the election from NA-122.
