The federal government has failed to clear dues of the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) on time.

The accord between the government and the IPPs may come to an end as the federal cabinet that met with PM Imran Khan in the chair could not fix the problem.

Although Federal Information Minister Fawad Ch said the cabinet decided 40 percent payment of outstanding dues to the IPPs, the government withdrew the announcement.

NAB too wrote a letter to power division over IPPs payments on April 9 but to no avail. It is decided that recommendations of a committee on 20 IPPs will be taken up to the ECC.
