Boxer Amir Khan punches govt’s suspension of 24NewsHD TV

Internationally-acclaimed British-Pakistani boxer Imran Khan has condemned the suspension of the licence of 24NewsHD TV channel and said he was not happy over the continuous suspension of the channel.
“24NewsHD has always promoted a positive reporting trend,” Imran Khan said.
Imran Khan is the Youngest British Olympic Boxing Medalist, two times World Professional Boxing Champion and recently appointed as World Boxing Championship (WPC) Middle East President.
The boxer said 24NewsHD TV channel always promoted boxing and sports. “It is shameful to put the jobs of so many employees in danger by suspending the licence of the TV channel,” he added.
A fiery protest by journalists also held outside the Ghotki Press Club. The speakers demanded the government to immediately restore the transmission of 24NewsHD TV channel, which is off the air for the 67th consecutive day.
Journalists on Thursday also held a rally in Dera Ismail Khan to protest against the suspension of transmission of 24NewsHD. The protesters raised slogans against the government and said they would not accept its action and demanded immediate restoration of the licence as well transmission of TV channel 24NewsHD.
In the rally, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s brother Maulana Ubaidur Rehman and people from other walks of life were participated to lodge their protest against the curbs on media freedom.
