The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) and the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (RCPE) jointly conducted a seminar titled ‘Clinical Excellence: Key to Quality Care’ at Fatima Jinnah Medical University in Lahore.


Chaired by Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh President Prof Andrew Elder, Vice Chancellor of KEMU Prof Mehmood Ayyaz and the Vice Chancellor of FJMU Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, the event was graced by Director of Advanced Skill Courses Prof Abrar Ashraf Ali, principal of FJMU Abdul Hamid, ex-VCs Prof Shireen Khawar and Prof Shamsa Humayun, Prof Noreen Akmal, Prof Munazza Iqbal, faculty and other medics.


Director of Education, University Hospitals, Birmingham Dr Michael Hallisey, Vice President of RCP Edinburgh Dr Susan Pound, Dean of Education and Co-Dean of Training RCP Edinburgh Dr Kerri Baker, Vice President Global RCP Edinburgh, Dr Conor Maguire and Regional Director CPSP, Birmingham Dr Asad Raheem and Dr javed Kiani were the foreign dignitaries.


Prof Khalid Masood Gondal along with FJMU faculty and senior teachers gave the guests a rosy welcome. The first session of the seminar was moderated by Dr Saima Chaudhary Associate Professor Gynae Unit 1 at FJMU. The welcome address was delivered by the vice chancellor OF FJMU.


Prof Andrew provided invaluable insights into the critical aspects of medical practice. He made the audience realize how investigations are replacing clinical examination and missing important information for accurate diagnosis.


Dr Kerri Baker talked about the importance and role of empathy in patient management. Prof Bilqees Shabbir shed light on human and AI collaboration in medicines at the end of the first session. During the interval, visiting dignitaries visited MCH Centre SGRH. They appreciated the service health delivery.


As the second session resumed,  Dr Maguire shed light on parkinsonism, showing the steps of clinical Examination in parkinsonism interacting with students and also distributing souvenirs amongst students.


The last talk of the day was given by Dr Susan on delirium. She appraised the audience about the insights into delirium assessment and management. Prof. Andrew appreciated the unprecedented services of Prof Gondal and presented him with a special souvenir and medal from RCP Edinburgh. Prof Gondal presented souvenirs to Prof Andrew Elder and other speakers.
