Prime Minister Imran Khan is under pressure to remove his Principal Secretary Azam Khan over the sugar crisis.

There are reports that a very close political aide of the prime minister is working hard to have Khan removed as principal secretary to the prime minister.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has been given two names for the position in case of Khan’s removal. Grade 22 officer Dr Ijaz Munir, who is secretary of the Establishment Division, and Economic Affairs Secretary Pervez Abbas are two potential candidates for the coveted post.

However, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Shabaz Gill has denied the reports about removal of the principal secretary to the prime minister.
