Caretaker Sindh CM Maqbool Baqir has left a media talk without answering a question about progress on the case of the killing of Sukkur journalist Muhammad Mehar.


Sindh Chief Minister Maqbool Baqir reviewed the preparations for general elections in the Sukkur Division.


The commissioner briefed the chief minister, saying the Sukkur Division consists of three districts – Ghotki, Sukkur and Khairpur.


There will be elections on two national and four provincial seats in the Ghotki district, two national and four provincial seats in the Sukkur district, and three national and six provincial seats in the Ghotki district.


The Sukkur Division has a total of 3,040,256 registered voters, it was said in the briefing. The chief minister was told that the arrangements were made in coordination with the Pak Army/Rangers.


Allocation of polling stations and staff has been completed in Sukkur Division and CCTV cameras have been installed at the most sensitive polling stations.


The security plan has been made while the work on the transportation plan is underway.


DIG Sukkur Abdul Hameed Khoso gave a briefing about the security arrangements during the general elections in the Sukkur Division.


The shortage of staff has been overcome, he said, adding that 4,327 Rangers personnel with 90 vehicles will be on patrol at the most sensitive polling stations.


He said 2,914 personnel of the Pakistan Army will perform duty at sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations and 138 places in the Sukkur division may have disturbing conditions.
