Traders and ordinary citizens of Sindh’s second largest city Hyderabad are facing great difficulties as the city’s only airport has been lying closed for the last several years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) shut the airport down soon after its inauguration in 2008 citing financial losses and other reasons.

The present government, too, seems to be least serious in opening it for flight operations.

Talking to 24NewsHD TV channel, trader Zia said that exporters had to confront a lot of difficulties due to the airport’s closure since they could not export mangoes, bangles and roses on time.

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sabir Qaimkhani said he was raising his voice for the reopening of the airport at several forums but in vain.
