The Sindh Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution paying rich tributes to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the former prime minister and founder of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
PPP leader Nisar Ahmad Khuhro presented the resolution in the assembly praising the PPP founder who was hanged on April 4, 1979, by military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq. He said that Bhutto gave Pakistan its unanimous constitution.
PPP leader Sharjeel Memon said that Bhutto was hanged in a fake case. He said that now even the Supreme Court of Pakistan has admitted that Bhutto was not given the right to fair trial. He said that Bhutto sacrificed his life but did not compromise Pakistan’s nuclear programme. He said that Bhutto was a true leader; he was not a social media leader.
Former Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Bhutto introduced agriculture reforms and distributed even3,000 acres from his own land to people. He said that Bhutto had promised to sacrifice the lives of his two sons for Pakistan. He said the Bhutto family has rendered matchless services for democracy in Pakistan.
Later, the session was prorogued until 3:00 PM on Tuesday.
