An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Monday announced that it would pronounce the verdict in the 190 million pounds reference (Al-Qadir Trust case), involving former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, on January 13, 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision could not be announced today on account of the absence of Judge Nasir Javed Rana.
The court staff informed the former prime minister’s counsel Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry of the postponement of the decision.
On December 18, 2024, an AC reserved its verdict in the reference and announced it would pronounce it on December 23.
Later, it deferred the decision and said it would announce the decision on January 6.
The court judge Nasir Javed Rana conducted the hearing at Adiala Jail.
The court reserved the verdict in the case after the prosecution team and defence lawyers completed their arguments.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched a probe against Imran Khan and his wife and others for the alleged gain of hundreds of canals of land in the name of Al- Qadir University Trust, which reportedly caused a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer.
As per the charges, the former PM and others allegedly adjusted 190 million pounds at the time sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the government. The NAB filed a corruption reference against Imran and seven others, including his wife, in connection with the Al-Qadir University.
