The situation in Kurram is deteriorating again after the arrest of three tribal elders who reportedly refused to sign the peace agreement between the warring sects.
On Tuesday, protesters shut down the Sadda City against the arrest of Haji Irshad, a representative of the local traders association. On the other hand, the sit-in Manduri is also continuing.
People observed a shutter-down strike in the city against Irshad’s arrest and also staged a protest. The protesters demanded unconditional release of Haji Irshad and warned of a law and order situation if their demands are not met.
On the other hand, protesters are still occupying the main road in Manduri. The protesters demanded that those involved in the Bagan incident should be arrested and produced in the court of law. They demanded that the people affected in Bagan incident should be compensated, an operation should be carried out against firearms and bunkers should be demolished.
On the other hand, local sources said that government officials are engaged in talks with the tribal elders and an announcement about the success of these talks could be made any time. As a result, way would be cleared for the convoy of vehicle carrying relief goods for the affected people of Kurram.
