Number of coronavirus deaths drop in Pakistan

With the addition of another 3,344 newly-infected people during the past 24 hours (Sunday), the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan rose to 231,818, shows the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre Monday morning.

The country also recorded 50 new deaths during the same period after the overall death toll reached 4,762.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country currently stands at 95,407 as the remaining 136,411 are closed now after the full recovery of 131,649 patients and the death of 4,762.

The number of tests administered across the country has now increased to 1,420,623 as 22,271 people were tested on Sunday.

On the other hand, 2,406 coronavirus patients are currently in critical condition and being treated in the intensive care units of different hospitals across the country.

Most of the coronavirus cases have been found in Sindh as the total for the province reached 94,528. The second most-affected province is Punjab with 81,963 cases followed by 28,116 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13,494 in Islamabad, 10,814 in Balochistan, 1,561 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,342 in Azad Kashmir.

But it is Punjab where most of the deaths are being recorded with the figures currently standing at 1,884. The figures for the other provinces/ regions are: Sindh 1,526, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,028, Islamabad 137, Balochistan 123, Azad Kashmir 36 and Gilgit-Baltistan 28.
