Apex Committee of SIFC has prepared roadmap for foreign investment: Minister

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal Wednesday announced that the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has prepared a road map for the national development and foreign investment in different sectors in the country.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the federal minister briefed the media persons in a news conference about the decision in the SIFC Apex Committee meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday.
A meeting of the Apex Committee was attended by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, federal ministers including Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Tariq Cheema and other officials. ISI Director General Nadeem Anjum also attended the meeting.
The participants of the Apex Committee meeting were briefed on the security situation at the borders and inside the country.
Addressing the media, Ahsan Iqbal said the Apex Committee decided to make different actions to attract foreign investors in the potential sectors of the country.
He said the Apex Committee has decided to hold a Road Show for highlighting the minerals in the country while a road map for enhancing foreign investment in the Information Technology (IT) sector has also been prepared.
Ahsan Iqbal said the Apex Committee has also decided to enhance defence production as this sector has more potential.
The minister announced that the Apex Committee has decided to provide every facility to foreign investors and any hurdle in their way will be dissolved at any cost.
He said special measures are also being taken for one window operation and facilities for the investors while special security will also be provided for foreign investors and companies in Pakistan.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal confirmed that his government has succeeded to make a staff-level agreement with the International Monitory Fund (IMF) for a loan to strengthen the national economy.
He said the former government of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) badly damaged the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
