A petition has been filed by a citizen in Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the ban under Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) for foreign travel, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The application has been filed on behalf of a citizen Munir Ahmed.

The petitioner took the plea that under Article 15 of the Constitution, there are two laws to prevent people from leaving the country.

A citizen can be prevented from going abroad under the Exit Control Ordinance and the Passport Control Act, text of petition said.

The PNIL Act is a violation of fundamental rights, petitioner’s stand.

The SOPs framed for PNIL are inconsistent with the Constitution.

According to the petition, PNIL's rules and regulations are unconstitutional.

It is requested in the petition that PNIL should be declared illegal and annulled.
