PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro has given an ultimatum to the government for restoration of water till June 15, reported 24News HD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Khuhro said they would expand the circle of protest if the water was not restored till June 15, adding the prime minister and IRSA chairman would be responsible for this. He said they were not against any province but just asking for their right.
Nisar Khuhro also strongly condemned strife by the protesters in Bahria Town Karachi. He said everyone had the right to protest but it should not be destroying and setting properties on fine. He said the police should take action against such elements.
Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said that the federal government was responsible for the stoppage of work on the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway.
Talking about opening marriage halls, he said the provincial government would hold a meeting in this regard after seven days. It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh government decided to keep the markets and shops opened till 8:00 pm from Monday (tomorrow), apparently giving in to the demand of the Karachi traders.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, after chairing the Sindh Corona Task Force emergency meeting on Sunday, announced that the marriage halls and outdoor weddings would be allowed after two weeks.
He said the timing of the markets and shops has been extended by two hours. He, however, made it clear that it is mandatory for the staff working in the markets and shops to get themselves vaccinated. “There will be a checking of the vaccination certificates after 15 days so get them ready,” he added.
The chief minister said all educational institutions (schools and colleges) from class 9 and above were being opened from Monday (tomorrow).
