In a latest development, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has offered senior MQM leader Farooq Sattar to join the PML-N.
As Abbasi delivered a message of solidarity on behalf of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting in Karachi on Friday, Sattar said the two sides had addressed the misgivings.
Sattar stressed the need for devising a national agenda and said the economy should be the focus.
Abbasi, who was accompanied by Ahsan Iqbal and other PML-N leaders, said Pakistan would not develop if Karachi wasn’t developed.
Also on Friday, Abbasi said holding elections would be a meaningless exercise. The remarks came just days after a TV interview in which he had shared similar views, saying that it was necessary to define who would rule the country before elections.
It is worth noting that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz has talked the same lines before her decision to avoid media limelight.
Talking to media at the Karachi Press Club, Abbasi said the PTI government didn’t exist, as it was totally powerless.
He said the Imran Khan-led government should complete the five-year term if the people were satisfied with its performance. No one is happy with the government, Abbasi added.
He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had played the main role in destroying the economy. Business is curtailed while inflation has increased, Abbasi noted.
