The other two characters in the video of Ali Haider Gilani, the son of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, have turned out to be Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members of the National Assembly (MNAs) Captain (r) Jamil Ahmed and Faheem Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Both MNAs have now admitted that they met with Gilani to learn how to waste their votes; even filmed the meeting and later released it to the media.
Talking to the media, MNA Faheem Khan said he and Jamil were both present in Gilani’s video, and that they were Prime Minister Imran Khan’s tigers.
When a journalist asked as to on whose orders the sting operation was carried out, Faheem replied that in this regard the party narrative will soon be released.
However, MNA Jamil said that nobody had given orders for making the video.
When asked, how much money they had received in return for the sting operation, Faheem said those who are paid do not say it in public.
When a journalist asked whether they would appear before the Election Commission of Pakistan to explain their position, MNA Faheem replied in affirmative and said they had nothing to hide.
Legal status of the video
After the confession of PTI’s MNA’s that they staged the whole episode to get evidence of the oppositions’ corruption has raised many questions on the legal status of the video.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has already taken a clear stance regarding sting operation videos. The Supreme Court has rejected such a video in a scandal in 2019 and declared that a staged video with a purpose to frame someone could not be used as a piece of evidence.
