Punjab top cop abolishes corona fund for policemen

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani has abolished the policy of his predecessor Captain (retd) Shoaib Dastagir who had issued orders to release Rs25,000 fund for COVID-19 contracted policemen and officers, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Tuesday.

It means now there will be no funds for the policemen contracting the coronavirus and from now onwards there will also be no funds for the virus-infected police personnel and officers across Punjab. The new policy has spread disappointment among the police force, the TV channel reported.

The TV channel also reported that the former IG Punjab had announced Rs25,000 funds allocation for the employees and so far 1,700 officers and police personnel were infected with COVID-19 in Punjab and availed this fund.

Quoting sources, the TV channel maintained that in Rawalpindi there were 93 police employees who did not receive the coronavirus fund as announced by the former top cop of the province.
