Pakistan to host first World Cup qualifier in 12 years against Cambodia

Pakistan’s football team is gearing up for a historic match against Cambodia in the second leg of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The match will be held at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on October 17, 2023.
This will be the first time that Pakistan will host a World Cup qualifier since 2011, when they played against Bangladesh at Punjab Stadium in Lahore. T
he last international match that Pakistan hosted was a friendly against Afghanistan in 2015 at the same venue.
Pakistan lost the first leg of the qualifier against Cambodia 2-0 in Phnom Penh on June 6, 2019. The team will need to win by a margin of three goals or more to advance to the next round of the qualifiers.
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has been working hard to prepare Jinnah Stadium for the match, with the approval of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). T
he AFC Match Commissioner Kamil Tokabio visited Jinnah Stadium on September 20, 2023 and inspected the facilities and security arrangements.
The PFF has also announced that the match will be open to the public, with free entry for all spectators. The PFF hopes that the home crowd will support and motivate the players to perform well and make history.
The match will kick off at 4:00 pm local time and will be broadcast live on PTV Sports and other channels.
