Sindh High Court has suspended the decision of University of Karachi’s Syndicate Committee in degree case of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, judge of the Islamabad High Court, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The court restrained Karachi University from taking further steps related to the case and issued notice to Deputy Attorney General, Advocate General and others.

The court asked the parties to give a detailed reply within three weeks.

The petitioner lawyer told the court that Committee and Syndicate had unlawfully declared the degree of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri ineffective.

Justice Salahuddin Pahnor inquired whose degree is the case and how many decisions of this kind has been made by the university so far?

The defence lawyer told SHC that the syndicate has made decision in a non-transparent manner. When this degree was issued, Justice Salahuddin Pahnor further inquired. Degree was issued thirty years back, lawyer replied.

On whose request has all this happened and on whose complaint action has been taken, Justice Salahuddin Pahnor inquired.

They are saying Islamia Law College has written a letter and what is the relation of the petitioners to this case, Justice Amjad Ali asked.

Lawyer replied that this application was filed by advocates and Karachi University has no authority and only the Judicial Commission can act, lawyer said.
