Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Basra Saturday alleged that the Election Appellate Tribunal, which initially accepted his nomination papers along with his wife’s papers has reversed its decision, rejecting the candidature of both, reported the24NewsHD TV channel.
Shaukat Basra shared that the returning officer had initially rejected their nomination papers.
In response, they filed appeals challenging this decision, which were heard by the Appellate Tribunal in Bahawalpur, he sais adding that Justice Tanveer Sultan presided over the appeals, accepting them on the first day.
However, the situation took a sudden twist when today, his lawyer went to get copies of the decision, and the honorable court stated that the appeals of Shaukat Basra and Rizwana Basra have been rejected," he claimed.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, Shaukat Basra remarked, "My decision was changed in a night. First, the Hon'ble Court accepted our appeals, and the next day, they were rejected."
The sudden alleged reversal in the acceptance of appeals has added a layer of complexity to the electoral landscape, prompting discussions about the transparency and consistency of the legal process.
