Qureshi to challenge rejection of nomination papers in LHC

PTI Vice-Chairman and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has decided to challenge the Election Tribunal’s decision to reject his nomination papers from his hometown of Multan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Qureshi will challenge the tribunal’s decision before a larger bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Qureshi’s lawyers are preparing to file the challenge in LHC.

The Election Tribunal in Multan had upheld returning officer’s decision to reject Qureshi’s nomination papers for attaching expired stamp papers.

Interestingly, Qureshi’s son Zain Hussain Qureshi and daughter Meharbano Qureshi had been cleared to contest the polls.

However, Election Tribunal has cleared PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan to contest elections from NA-23 in Mardan.

The Election Appellate Tribunal accepted Ali Muhammad Khan’s nomination papers.

Meanwhile, Election Tribunal in Peshawar has also approved the nomination papers of from PTI senator from Orakzai district Mr Aurangzeb from NA-36 and PK-94.

The Election Tribunal has also accepted the nomination papers of Aurangzeb’s brother Abdul Shahid.
