The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Monday condemned the government’s use of force against the media workers protesting against the Pemra orders to shut down 24NewsHD TV.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) had suspended the licence of 24NewsHD TV on July 3.
In a tweet on Monday evening, HRCP said: “HRCP condemns the highhandedness of the authorities and their use of force in dealing with @24NewsHD #media workers who have been agitating for decent #wages and #job retention.”
