Khalilzad discusses Afghan peace with COAS Gen Bajwa

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad on Sunday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the military’s media wing, matters of mutual interest, overall regional security situation and Afghan reconciliation process were discussed in the meeting.

DG ISPR in a tweet said: “Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghan Reconciliation called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS today. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, overall regional security situation including Afghan refugees issue / Afghan Reconciliation...”

In another tweet the ISPR said: “Process and Pakistan - Afghanistan border management were discussed. Both shared steps taken in this regard and agreed to continue working towards mutually agreed goals.”

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region, read the statement.
