With a huge amount of 246 million dollars, the completion of New Gwadar International Airport has entered the final stages and it will be completed this year and will be handed over to the local authorities.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the construction of this international standard airport which was started in 2019 is one of the major projects of CPEC.
New Gwadar International Airport is established on 4,300 acres of land including a runway that is capable of landing the world's largest aeroplane Airbus 380. The airport project included a modern terminal building spread over 14,000 square meters.
Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), New Gwadar International Airport made history by conducting a successful five-day flight test operation on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. As soon as the first test flight landed, a traditional salute was also presented on the runway.
The main objective of this activity was to test the performance, quality and safety of the project's navigation facilities, navigation aids, flight procedures and air landing strips.
After completion, this airport will lay a better foundation for the future development of Gwadar Port as well as the city.
