While hearing the petitions against the acceptance of resignations of nine MNAs of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday gave stay orders barring implementation of the notification regarding by-election on March 16 in nine constituencies of the National Assembly (NA), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PTI leader Ali Zaidi appeared in the SHC along with a team of lawyers.
“We have received stay orders on similar petitions in Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad and Balochistan,” PTI lawyer told the court.
“Are you aware of the facts that what had happened in this case?” the SHC chief justice questioned.
The court issued notices on the plea of independent candidate Qais Mansoor Sheikh to become a respondent in the case.
The petition for stay orders against the by-election had been filed on behalf of nine MNAs of the PTI.
The court adjourned further hearing till March 25 next.
