SHC orders holding MDCAT afresh within a month

Pronouncing a verdict on the irregularities allegedly committed in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday ordered that the test be held again within four weeks, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Earlier, on October 9, 2024, while suspending the MDCAT results, the SHC restrained the authorities from finalizing and processing admissions on their basis.

A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Amjad Ali Sahito, hearing a set of petitions filed by various candidates against the MDCAT held in the province on September 22, also directed the chief secretary to form a committee to conduct a thorough probe by fixing criminal and civil liability about the paper leak allegations within 15 days.

On September 22, around 170,000 candidates took the test, conducted by six universities, across the country and abroad.

However, there were complaints that the question paper was leaked in Sindh and that over 20 questions were out of the syllabus in the exam conducted by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) in Islamabad.
