Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Sunday briefed Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on the latest security situation in the capital as the opposition’s protest wave ended, reported 24News TV channel.

The Prime Minister praised the Islamabad Police for their effective management of law and order, particularly in repelling recent security threats caused by the violent protesters.

Acknowledging the coordinated efforts of the Pakistan Army, Punjab Police, and Rangers, Prime Minister Sharif said, "Islamabad Police played a pivotal role in thwarting an attack, while the joint forces ensured stability in the city."

During the meeting, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Constable Hameed Shah, who was martyred while defending the lives and property of citizens. "May Allah raise the ranks of the martyr. The nation will always remember this sacrifice," said Sharif, adding that the martyr’s family would receive full support from the government.

On the economic front, Prime Minister Sharif reassured the public that the situation in Islamabad was returning to normal and that economic development remains the government's top priority.

He criticized political opponents for attempting to undermine the country’s progress, stating, "The world acknowledges Pakistan's economic policies, but some political elements seek to destabilize our growth."

Regarding international events in Pakistan, the Prime Minister confirmed that they would continue as scheduled, supported by high-quality security arrangements. Major highways in the capital have been reopened, according to the Interior Minister, signaling a swift return to normalcy.

In addition to the security briefings, the Interior Minister informed the Prime Minister about the return of 56 Pakistani prisoners from Sri Lanka, which is being facilitated today. Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan has pledged to cover all repatriation expenses. Prime Minister Sharif appreciated the efforts of both ministers for their role in ensuring the safe return of the prisoners.
