A court in Gujranwala on Friday approved a 6-day physical remand of a suspect involved in the case of sexually abusing multiple underage female students at a school run by his wife, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The primary suspect, Imran, was presented before the court, where the police requested his physical remand for investigation.

Following the police’s request, the court approved a six-day physical remand for the accused and handed him over to the police for interrogation.

The case had raised significant concern in the city with authorities ensuring tight security measures during the suspect’s court appearance to prevent any untoward incidents.

It is pertinent that the suspect had been running a canteen inside the government-affiliated non-formal education school, which his wife Sajida operated from their home in the Therhi Sansi area, Gujranwala.

According to preliminary investigations, Imran exploited his position to target students over several years.

Imran had secretly filmed the assaults, intimidating his victims into silence.

The matter came to light when one of the victims, a minor, confided in her parents that she had been repeatedly assaulted.

She also revealed that other classmates had suffered similar abuse.

Following the disclosure, the parents contacted each other and then informed the police leading to Imran’s arrest.

Initial investigations identified five victims aged between 11 and 14, but authorities fear there may be more.

The police have filed five separate cases against the accused, who has confessed to the crime during questioning.

Authorities have also closed the school pending further investigation.
