Doctors and paramedical staff have also been infected by coronavirus as 23 patients out of a total of 26 were tested positive for at PIMS, Islamabad’s main hospital, during the last two days.
24NewsHD, quoting the hospital sources, reported that three doctors and a nurse have also been tested positive for the virus, who were performing duties at an isolation ward.
The infected staff member has been isolated and their condition is stated to be out of danger.
The data of the suspected patients was sent to the National Institute of Health and 23 of them have been quarantined at different places after receiving the test reports.
The number of coronavirus patients is on the rise at PIMS and they include both locals and other parts of the country.
In an earlier story, 24NewsHD had already highlighted the fact that the PIMS only has 100 ventilators and it also lacks the trained staff to operate them.
It is feared that the ventilators won’t be enough in case of an increase in the number of coronavirus patients.
Meanwhile, it is not only the healthcare workers who are being infected by the deadly virus but also their families.
In this tweet, a video has been shared in which the wife of an Islamabad-based doctor is saying that his family members have also been infected and no one is helping them despite repeated pleas.

This tragic episode again shows the lack of personnel protective equipment (PPE) for the healthcare workers who are supposed to save the lives of others but instead are being infected by the virus.
