85% work on 660KV Matriari-Lahore transmission line completed

China Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPECA) Chairman and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Asim Saleem Bajwa has said that 85 percent work has been completed on 660KV Matriari-Lahore high voltage direct current (HVDC) electric power transmission line project worth $1.658 billion that will evacuate power North-South.
In a tweet on Saturday, Saleem Bajwa said, “Update 660kV Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission line Project, will evacuate power North-South, resolve one major issue. Scope;4000MW Evac Capacity, 886KM,1972 Towers. Cost: USD 1.658 Billion Work completed 85%.”

Asim Saleem Bajwa said that the project has direct employment of 2,212 people.
Earlier Asim Saleem Bajwa attended a webinar arranged by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in which he said, “As we enter Phase-2 of CPEC, our focus is to bring its dividends to masses in Pakistan. Will develop Gwadar port, build connectivity to it, work to bring prosperity in remote regions along the roads or projects.”
