Supreme Court (SC) Judge Justice Yahya Afridi has asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to give the timeframe for the completion of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz’s trial, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his remarks in PML-N leader’s bail application case on Friday, Justice Afridi reminded that the apex court had already ordered daily hearing of corruption references.
He observed that keeping accused in the jail until his trial was completed was not appropriate.
He asked the NAB to go to the court for the cancellation of bails of those who failed to cooperate in the investigations.
Justice Mushir Alam, on the other hand, remarked that hearing new cases by setting aside the old ones was not a good precedent.
Earlier, NAB submitted more documents to the Supreme Court in Hamza Shehbaz’s bail application case.
The NAB officials told the court that the confiscation of properties of Suleman Shehbaz, Shehbaz Sharif’s daughter Rabia Imran and other absconders had also started.
Of total 16 suspects in this money laundering case, five are on the run while the reference is being heard in Lahore’s Accountability Court-II.
Hearing in Hamza Shehbaz’s bail application case would resume in the Supreme Court tomorrow (Saturday).
