Several sections of the motorways M1 and M3 have been closed due to dense fog, according to the Motorway Police.
The Motorway Police said that the Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Rajana and the Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai are closed for traffic to ensure public safety and safe travel.
Motorway M4 from Pindi Bhatian to Gojra has also been closed due to fog.
The duration of fog on the national highways has increased with the cold weather, reducing visibility to less than 50 meters in some areas.
The Motorway Police advised the road users to prefer to travel during the maximum hours of the day when the fog is less likely to occur.
They also urged the drivers to use fog lights, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and follow the traffic rules.

He advised people to avoid travelling unnecessarily and if it was really necessary, travel during the daytime.
The spokesman also counselled people to drive at a slow pace, turn their fog lights on and keep distance while travelling.
He said that before starting their journey, motorists could dial helpline number 130 for information. “Apart from that, they can also get information by logging on to the National Highways and Motorway Police’s official social media account.
