Former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced joining the Pakistan Muslim League-Zia (PML-Zia), reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
He announced a decision to this effect while addressing a press conference along with PML-Zia chief Ijaz-ul-Haq here on Sunday.
Welcoming Usman Buzdar's inclusion, Ijaz revealed forming a “National Unity Alliance” aiming to build a coalition that would work towards ending polarization in Pakistani politics.
He said that he thought the election would be held on Feb 8.
“We have an alliance of 25 people including Usman Buzdar, Yar Muhammad Rind, Amin Aslam, and Hamid Yar Hiraj. We also enjoy the trust of people who are contesting elections from Pakpattan, Sialkot, Khanewal Sargodha, Rajanpur, Attock and Rahim Yar Khan,” Ijaz-ul-Haq revealed.
He underlined the importance of maintaining contact with various political parties and expressed intentions to extend invitations for their participation in the proposed platform.
Haq emphasized the importance of fostering unity among various political entities and disclosed ongoing discussions with like-minded individuals over the past couple of months.
He underscored the need to bring together those individuals running for elections independently or representing smaller groups.
Ijaz urged the inclusion of those who aspire to lead the country in alignment with Pakistan's ideological principles.
Additionally, he welcomed anyone willing to engage, emphasizing the importance of unrestricted discourse.
He also emphasized the need to reintroduce ideological discourse in Pakistan's political landscape.
Ijaz-ul-Haq expressed that the pivotal focus should be on steering Pakistan away from the polarization that emerged with the Charter of Democracy.
He stressed the necessity for a platform dedicated to ideological discourse, catering specifically to ideological individuals.
Ijaz-ul-Haq highlighted the aftermath of the Charter of Democracy, asserting that it led to the absence of ideological parties in the political spectrum, leaving a void filled by parties engaging in opportunistic politics.
Addressing the prevailing political scenario, Haq criticized parties currently engaged in crafting manifestos without practical implementation.
Highlighting the economic challenges faced by the country over the past 16 months, the PML-Z chief expressed disappointment at the lack of intervention by political parties to improve the situation.
He criticized their failure to address the concerns of the public, despite seemingly resolving their internal matters.
In the coming days, Ijaz-ul-Haq plans to meet with the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) in Balochistan and initiate discussions with the central Muslim League and Pir Pagara.
