A local Jirga comprising Ulema and representatives of local bodies has unanimously decided to ban music and aerial firing during wedding and other functions in Landi Kotal area of Khyber district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The Jirga also outlawed the invitation to be extended to transgender persons to perform at any kind of function.
Usually, the trans persons are invited to various functions to perform dance and do vocals to amuse guests.
The Jirga warned that any family which violated its decree would have to face the consequences as no person would attend any function including wedding, Nikah, or a funeral ceremony arranged by this family.
The Jirga’s proclamation was given a formal written form and it was duly signed by Ulema, local bodies’ representatives and advisors of all schools of thought.
