Coronavirus cases jump to 25,789 in Pakistan

Curbing coronavirus spread in Pakistan has become a challenge with an alarming rise in the number of confirmed cases as 1,764 people were tested positive for the virus during the past 24 hours.

The latest addition means the number of total coronavirus jumped to 25,789 by Friday morning.

According to National Command and Operation Centre, another 35 coronavirus patients died during the same period after which the number of deaths in the country climbed to 594.

There is an alarming rise in the number of cases in Punjab where the total has reached 10,033. The numbers for other administrative units are: Sindh 9.093, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3,956, Balochistan 1,725, Islamabad 558, Gilgit-Baltistan 394 and Azad Kashmir 78.

Meanwhile, there is an increase in the coronavirus testing as another 11,993 people went through the process during the past 24 hours. As a result, the total number of tests conducted since the pandemic outbreak has reached 257,247.

On the other hand, the number of active cases currently stands at 17,713 while 7,530 people have fully recovered from the virus.

As far as the deaths are concerned, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tops the list with 209. It is followed by Punjab 183, Sindh 173, Balochistan24, Islamabad four and Gilgit-Baltistan three.
