Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has emphasised the need for madaris registration and urged Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Group (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to adopt a constructive approach on the issue.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, speaking at a seminar organised by NAB Karachi on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day at Governor House on Monday, Tessori stated, “Seminaries must be registered, but hurdles are being created in the path of national progress.”

The seminar, titled "The Role of Accountability in Better Governance," was attended by NAB Karachi DG Javed Akbar Riaz, Arts Council President, and other dignitaries.

Governor Kamran Tessori also highlighted the importance of accountability in governance and linked reforms in madaris to broader developmental goals.

It is worth mentioning that speaking at public rallies in Nowshera and Peshawar over the weekend, Maulana Fazl said seminaries are being unfairly targeted under the guise of modern education reforms.

He warned the government against "conspiracies" aimed at creating divisions among Ulema and vowed to protect the country's Islamic and national ideology.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman alleged that while seminaries agreed to registration during the previous Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government, the government and international establishment are now pushing seminaries towards extremism.

He claimed seminaries' bank accounts are being closed unjustly and announced plans for an Islamabad march to protest what he called the government’s "war" on madaris.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with his elder brother and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif in Lahore. Nawaz reportedly directed the PM to address Fazlur Rehman’s concerns about the Madaris Bill and ensure coalition partners are taken into confidence on national issues.
