Fog blankets plains of country; disrupts flight, train operations

Heavy fog blanketed the plains of the country on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Several sections of the motorways were closed due to zero visibility. Vehicles were also barred from travelling on the motorways.
Motorway (M-2) was closed from Lahore to Islamabad, and Motorway (M-3) was also closed from Rajana to Faizpur.
Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was also closed for traffic due to low visibility.
Dense fog also blanketed Lahore city, reducing the visibility on roads.
The flight operation at Lahore Airport was also affected due to fog, and many flights were delayed and several others cancelled.
The visibility limit reduced to 50 meters on the runway due to fog.
A Karachi-bound flight PA405 from Lahore was cancelled.
A Lahore-bound flight PA406 from Karachi was also cancelled.
A Dubai-bound Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK203 was scheduled to operate from Islamabad.
A Lahore-bound PIA flight PK186 from Sharjah was rescheduled to land in Islamabad.
A Karachi-bound PIA flight PA401 was rescheduled to leave for its destination from Lahore with a delay of nine hours at 6pm.
A Jeddah-bound flight SV735 was rescheduled to fly for its destination from Lahore with a delay of three hours at 3pm.
A Bahrain-bound flight GF765 was rescheduled to fly from Lahore at 9pm with a delay of five hours and 50 minutes.
The fog also disrupted the train operation, and several trains were delayed for several hours.
The motorways police advised the citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.
