The running controversy over a promotional campaign for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz forced the Pakistani actress Zhalay Sarhadi to compare social media to strict ‘Desi Mom’.
The campaign has been going on for a few days, highlights Maryam Nawaz's accomplishments, and features several social media influencers as well as well-known Pakistani celebrities, including singer Aima Baig, Urwa Hocane, Sanam Saeed, Saba Qamar, and Zhalay Sarhadi.
But the public's reaction to the campaign has been negative, sparking outrage and calls for a boycott of the participating artists.
Zhalay took to her Instagram handle and reacted to the criticism by sharing a hilarious post on her Instagram story that reads, “Social media is just like a desi mom. After a whole day of work, if you leave a glass on the table, you'll hear, 'Useless! You don't do anything.”

Sarhadi highlighted that just as a desi mom criticizes minor mistakes, social media users also harshly judge based on a single error.
