The Sindh cabinet Thursday decided to conduct an operation against the dacoits in Katcha area along Indus River in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The home secretary and Sindh inspector general of police (IGP) briefed the cabinet about preparations for the operation.

“Police need military grade weapons in Kacha area. A recommendation for purchasing military grade arms had been made in the Apex Committee meeting on January 5, 2023,” the officers briefed the meeting.

“Rs2.7 billion are required for purchasing military grade weapons,” they added.

The provincial cabinet approved the purchase of arms by approving funds.

With the approval of the cabinet, the Sindh government will take NOC from the Ministry of Home Affairs for the purchase of arms.

It will be a joint operation against the dacoits in Kacha area, the cabinet decided.

The Rangers and Pakistan Army will also participate in the operation along with Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan police.

“This will be a joint and pre-planned operation,” Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

“The Sindh IGP will start the operation with his plan,” he added.
