Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan said on Friday his party leadership and workers had been implicated in politically-motivated cases.

Condemning the cases registered against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers, Omar said the UN rights body has warned against civilians' trial in military courts. He said that growth rate in Pakistan had fallen to zero at the time of removal of the PTI government and it could never lift off the ground again.

Speaking to the media outside anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi on Friday, Omar said the incumbent rulers had failed to stabilize the country and now reports were circulating that an IMF team was coming to Pakistan. He said this was “duffers’ regime”. He said that 14 Foreign Act was included in the cases which were registered against PTI leaders after October 5.

"Are you trying the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly under the 14 Foreign Act?" he asked. He said that terrorism cases have been registered against the leaders of opposition in the Senate and National Assembly. He said that both these leaders were also members of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, which was headed by the chief justice of Pakistan. Look at these contradictions, he added.

Omar said a mini budget was coming. He said the government was doing figure fudging, therefore, a mini budget was inevitable, shortfall would increase and rupee would depreciate. He said that an IMF delegation was coming to Pakistan because the government had failed to meet its targets. He said that Pakistan was suffering from an acute energy crisis and inflation was increasing with the passage of every day. Omar said that PTI founder Imran Khan and all other party leaders were implicated in politically-motivated cases.
