The primary school teachers of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sunday set an ultimatum to press the authorities to accept their demands for the upgradation of their pay scale.  

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the KP Primary School Teachers Association had issued a warning to the authorities till Monday at 1:00 PM, otherwise, it would chock the education system.    

It also said that all the boys’ and girls’ primary schools will remain closed on Monday as the teachers had refused to rejoin duties without meeting their just demand.  

The association said that 100 percent of the school staff will leave for Peshawar on Monday to register their protest. If their demands are not accepted, they will be on the main highway again, it added. Tomorrow will be the last and decisive day and the provincial government will be responsible for any untoward situation, it adds. 

It is pertinent that the teachers’ protest in Peshawar has entered its fourth day on Sunday.  Around 15 teachers, who were arrested by police for protesting and blocking roads outside the KP Assembly have been sent to jail.

The government has refused to release the arrested school teachers before the negotiations are successful. The teachers set a condition of withdrawing the cases after the arrested teachers are released. But, negotiations between the protesting teachers and the government failed as the government refused to accept their demands.

The association said that the protest will continue until their demands are not met.
