Pakistan Bureau of Statistics releases weekly inflation report

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released a weekly inflation report stating that a surge in the prices of essentials including a few pulses, tea, curd, milk, bread, potatoes, garlic, beef, mutton, and rice was recorded.
According to the report, Prices of 16 essential commodities remained stable.
The price of mung daal was increased by Rs6.41, chickpea daal by Rs4, and daal mash by Rs3.29 paisa while the price of onion was cut by Rs73 per kg and tomato by Rs 14.46 per kg.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the price of bananas decreased by Rs 2. 46 per dozen and the price of ghee per kg decreased by Rs2.98.
The report added that a 0.58 percent decrease has been recorded in the overall rate of inflation in the country. However, the rate of inflation on an annual basis is still 42.70%.
In the report, it was further stated that the rate of inflation was 23.59% for the group having income from 29 thousand 518 rupees to 44 thousand 175 rupees per month, while the rate of inflation was 44.01% for the group having income more than 44 thousand 176 rupees per month.
