CM Naqvi orders upgradation of Punjab police stations

What could be termed yet another big step in the direction of improving policing, Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has ordered the upgradation of all existing police stations of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing a meeting on Saturday, the chief minister also ordered the repair of Dolphin Force’s motorbikes and Police Response Unit vehicles within a month.
He said that upgraded police stations would have new front desks, investigation rooms, waiting areas and washrooms.
In view of the fact that lot of expenditures will be incurred on building new police stations, the CM ordered to get existing buildings on rent and house police stations in these buildings so that not only precious money and time could be saved but people’s complaints could also be addressed at the earliest.
CM Naqvi also directed the staff deputed at these police stations to behave with the visitors in a friendly manner and provide them as many as facilities as possible so that they could feel at home.
Similarly, he has also ordered that police stations should be kept clean.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar, on the occasion, briefed the chief minister about different matters related to the upgradation of police stations, Dolphin Police and Police Response Units.
Besides the IGP, the meeting was attended by the chief secretary, additional IG (Special Branch), additional chief secretary interior, CCPO Lahore, secretary finance, secretary construction and communication, DIG operations and others.
