An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday remanded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Yasir Gilani into four-day police custody in the Jinnah House attack case, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Police presented the accused before ATC Judge Irfan Haider and sought remand in connection with the May 9 riots.
The investigation officer (IO) told the court that Yasir was involved in the Jinnah House attack and ransacking.
“Yasir Gilani has been produced in court after an identification parade. Physical remand should be given,” the IO requested.
Yusuf Wayne Advocate represented the accused and claimed the police arrested his client from Shahdara.
He argued that the accused was being subjected to political persecution, adding that the police told the high court that there was no case against Yasir.
However, the court granted remand and asked the police to produce the accused on October 5.
