Seven people were shot dead and two others sustained injuries over a land dispute in Punjab on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the Qila Kalarwala police limits in the Sialkot district where rivals carried out the gun attack, police said.

The deceased and the injured were from Narang Mandi and they had a property dispute in Sheikhupura.

Rescue and forensic teams reached the spot. Police high-ups too rushed to the scene.

According to the Sialkot police chief, special squads have launched a hunt for the killers and soon they will be brought to justice at the earliest.

As soon as the story made the headlines, the IGP took notice and sought a report from the officers concerned.
